LucidDrive - Requirements
Because graphics cards are rapidly developing these days, this page will be updated from time to time. (last update: 2009-02-18)
To have a high frame rate during the simulation we suggest that your computer should have a multicore CPU, at least 2GB RAM and a graphics card that meets the latest standards.
Graphic Card Trade-off Table
We recommend the use of nVidia™ graphic cards for our products. For LucidDrive you need a graphics card which at least supports ShaderModel 3.0 or OpenGL 1.5. For full performance we recommend a card which supports ShaderModel 4.0 or DirectX 10.
Category | Card | Price | Comment |
Professional Line | Nvidia Quadro FX5800 | 3000 Euro | Best choice if you need professional support. Most GPU RAM (4GB) at the moment. |
Best Performance | Nvidia Geforce GTX 295 | 500 Euro | Dual chip graphics card, best choice without professional customer support. |
Budget Single | Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 | 250 Euro | This should do for most LucidDrive applications, if you don't need high resolutions or many lights simultaneously. |
Budget SLI | Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT | 150 Euro | Also good for single configurations, two of these beat the budget GTX in an SLI setup. |
SLI
You can increase the graphics performance of your computer if you double the graphics cards which means that you are using the SLI technology by nVidia. LucidDrive is already SLI optimized! You find more information about SLI here. There are already chipsets that allow more than two cards in a computer.
