We offer consultancy and design services to all manufacturers of interior and exterior lighting systems. Integrated in our customers product development projects, we take over CAL design duties within different areas of optical projects.

The concepts of engineering workflow and simultaneous engineering generate tight and parallel engineering processes. The timing of the time-to-market chain is reduced by means of digital mock-ups such as the "digital car". Early simulation of product characteristics improves quality and saves costs and development times by restricting initial testing with prototypes.

Conventional optical techniques and principles are now out of date for use with state-of-the-art lighting systems in motor vehicles and for the interior and exterior of buildings. New light sources and forms with new optical effects are increasingly required.

The primary factors underpinning this development are: increased performance requirements, energy savings, environmental considerations, security, convenience and styling. Powerful software systems for the calculation, simulation, analysis, assessment and documentation of the lighting system are required for this product development. These software systems are known as Computer Aided Lighting (CAL) systems.

• Lamp setup and design using our CAL/CAD system
• Calculation of „ free form" reflectors, which create a characteristic light distribution with features like
• Strong gradients ( cut off lines)
• Concentrations (light spots)
• Variation of the light intensity or illumination or homogeneous illumination of a given surface
• Predicting the photometric performance of a lamp in design by simulation
• Analyze and judgement of the lamp's photometric performance
• Lighting simulation and visualization of light in function as room, building and road illumination

CAD software development in order

For a successful product development the conventional CAD-/CAM-/PDM systems are no longer sufficient. The development will has to be optimized by CAx-tools, tailored to the product features. We help our customers with software developments in the following areas: 

• Add-on modules for the CAD system CATIA, based on the programing tools: IUA, GII, C++, FORTRAN
• Service programs around of the customers CAD system
• Program modules for geometric modeling
• Product specific modeling; programs adapted to the product in design
• Virtual reality tools for product development
• Multimedia documentation of the development and of the product
• Programing tools for a geometrical and product specific modeling, based on modern software technologies like C++, Java, NT-OLE or Corba

CAL software development in order

For the development of an optimal lighting product the conventional laboratory methods are no longer convenient. Also CAD systems, suited for mechanical designs, are limited in lighting designs. The development must be aided by additional optic and lighting calculation programs (CAL), which reduce the design time and make the development of innovative lighting systems possible. We help our customer with adapted software developments in the following areas:

• Calculation programs for the geometrical modeling of optical components (reflectors, refractors, lenses ...)
• Programs for a product specific modeling of a lamp
• Service programs around of the customers CAD system to support the lamp design
• Programs which predict the lamp's photometric performance, using powerful and fast ray trace or radiosity algorithm.
• Virtual reality tools to display the lamp in function
• Multimedia documentation of the designed lamp
